About

FOX · HONG KONG

Welcome to my art world.

I am Fox, a Hong Kong-based hand-painted card artist specialising in original paintings created directly on physical Pokémon cards.

Working with oil, watercolour and mixed media, I create a unique setting for each Pokémon. Hong Kong architecture and real-world environments often become the starting point for these imagined scenes.

Every completed work is a one-of-one physical collectible, created to extend beyond the original card frame and reveal a new world around its character.

01 — THE BEGINNING

Giving forgotten cards a new life.

While collecting and playing the Pokémon Trading Card Game, I noticed that many cards were casually discarded after opening because they had little practical value. Seeing this waste inspired me to reimagine these seemingly “unwanted” cards and give them a new artistic life—transforming each one into an original work of art.

Stage two: Pikachu and the red cape begin to take shape around the card.

Stage three: the winged helmet, hammer and surrounding details are developed.

Stage four: the nearly completed Thor-inspired Pikachu artwork is held in hand.

Stage five: the finished Thor-inspired Pikachu card in saturated blue, red and yellow.

02 — HONG KONG INSPIRATION

Where Pokémon meets Hong Kong.

I began to notice a natural connection between the characteristics of many Pokémon and the urban landscapes and everyday life of Hong Kong. From its busy streets and Victoria Harbour at night to the energy of traditional festivals, many Pokémon can become a natural part of the city’s local identity.

The early popularity of Pokémon GO also gave me countless ideas, revealing how naturally these imaginary creatures could become part of the real world around us.

03 — CREATIVE PHILOSOPHY

One Card, One World.

ONE OF ONE ORIGINAL

Every artwork is composed with rich, saturated colours and a scene created specifically for its Pokémon. Each card is a unique, one-of-one original, bringing together the worlds of card collecting and hand-painted art.

I devote considerable time to the composition, rendering and refinement of every piece, with particular attention to intricate background details and layered colour. My aim is to create scenes that invite viewers to look closer—where real-world environments, architecture and Pokémon characters come together to reshape this colourful world through a new perspective.
